Needless to say, I love dogs.
I’m Janice Zazinski, a multi-credentialed trainer and the owner of Janice Z Dog Training. I am a CTC (Graduate with Certificate in Training and Counseling) from the eminent Academy for Dog Trainers, a two-year intensive program. Academy coursework includes studies in applied animal behavior science, training in everyday manners, behavior modification for dogs with fearful and aggressive behaviors, canine evolution and domestication, learning theory, and much more.
I am a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT) and a graduate of Malena DeMartini’s training program, and love to help dogs learn to feel safe when left home alone.
As a licensed Family Paws Parent Educator, I provide specialized training and coaching for families with dogs (including grandparents!) who have babies, toddlers, and children in their lives.
I am recommended by veterinarians in several states and am a referral trainer for the Springfield and Windham County Humane Societies (VT), and the Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton (MA).
I write a regular column for the Brattleboro Reformer on dog training and behavior issues.
My mission is simple
I teach dogs and coach their people so they can have happy, harmonious lives together. I use effective, humane, tried-and-tested training methods to build behavior that works for dogs and their people. Read what some of my clients have to say.
Why credentials matter
Dog training is an unregulated profession. Anyone can call themself a dog trainer – and take your money without providing any benefit to your dog's behavior (and often making it worse). I encourage you to download my tip sheet on how to choose a dog trainer, and I welcome your questions about my training methods. Drop me a line.
I’ve volunteered and worked with dogs for more than 20 years. I’m also a graduate of the Bancroft School of Animal Massage and a Certified Small Animal Massage Therapist. I’m committed to continuing my education, and regularly attend workshops, conferences, seminars and programs to keep current with my training knowledge to benefit my clients.
I carry liability insurance through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas and am a registered limited liability company in the State of Vermont. I’m a proud member of the Pet Professional Guild, which is 100% committed to transparency and force-free methods in the animal care and training profession.
I live with my husband, Rob Kinslow, and our rescue dogs, Daisy and Petey, on the edge of Townshend State Park in beautiful Townshend, Vermont. When not working with clients or hiking with Rob and the dogs, I crochet, read historical mysteries, and experiment with vegan soup recipes.
