I’m Janice Zazinski, the owner of Janice Z Dog Training. I am a CTC (Graduate with Certificate in Training and Counseling) from the eminent Academy for Dog Trainers, a two year intensive program. Academy coursework includes applied animal behavior science, training everyday manners, complex behavior modification for dogs with fearful and aggressive behaviors, canine evolution and domestication, learning theory, coaching and counseling skills for human clients, and much more.
I am also a licensed Family Paws Parent Educator, providing specialized training for families with dogs who are expecting a baby or who have children approaching the toddler years.
Dogs Live in the Right Now
Dogs live in the moment — what’s happening right now? What can I sniff? What can I chew or chase? Who can give me a belly rub?
My training philosophy is to meet you and your dog where you are right now. We’ll discuss your goals for your beloved companion, consider what are realistic expectations for your dog to achieve, and determine what your dog can do right now. Starting from that point, together we will build behavior that works for you and your dog.
Dog training is an unregulated profession in the United States with very little transparency. Anyone can call themself a dog trainer – that’s why credentials matter. I encourage you to read my blog on how to choose a dog trainer and I welcome your questions about my training methods. Drop me a line.
I’ve volunteered and worked with dogs for more than 20 years. I’m also a graduate of the Bancroft School of Animal Massage and a Certified Small Animal Massage Therapist. I’m committed to continuing education, attending seminars and programs to keep current with my training knowledge.
I live with my husband, Rob Kinslow, and our rescue dogs, Daisy and Petey, in Medford, Massachusetts. When not working with clients or playing with my dogs, I crochet, ride my bicycle, relax with The Great British Baking Show, read historical fiction and mysteries, and keep up with friends and far-flung family on Zoom.
I carry liability insurance through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas and am a registered limited liability company in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I’m proud to be a member of the Pet Professional Guild, which is 100% committed to transparency and force-free methods in the animal care and training profession.
